Job Scopes

Having received several questions on the job scopes of the various positions, I have decided to post a basic outline of what the different posts have to do. They are as follows:

Finance
- collect monthly lesson fees
- help in tallying club funds
- budgeting for events
- paying of instructors
- make sure club funds do not fall into deficit

Admin
- write minutes during meetings
- send soft copies of minutes to all exco after meeting
- photocopying any 'notes' given by the instructors
- printing of meetng agendas for excos (using club fund of course!)

Logistics
- aid in getting minus one
- taking charge of sound system
- plugging in and keeping of mic every lesson
- cutting of music
- making sure performance tracks have no error and of good sound quality

Events
- writing of proposals for events held by the club
- heading events
- intiating club outings
- heading the program of club camp [super important!! (=]

These are basically the very vague outline of what each position has to do but it might vary when situations arise. Because we are a club, and I hope we are like one Big family (sounds cliche but I don't care) so yup, when the workload of one positions becomes too heavy we will help each other, no worries on that. We are all helpful and friendly people right??

So.. prepare yourselves well and convince exco 09 you are fit for the job to lead the next batch.. =)

Dear Esprimere,

After 2 days of hard work, the booth can be up finally. However I need people to come down to the booth to help. The dates are 22/09 - 25/09. Anyone can come down help other than those assigned a task.

Question: What to help?
Answer: Station at booth to answer students' enquiries and give out flyers.

Most importantly all members of Esprimere, pls come down to the booth when you are in school to get a STAR from us. It is just something to identify ourselves as a member of Esprimere in the Open House and Art Festival.

As for those in the list posted by Zhiqi previously, pls come down at 1015 to set up the booth. Report to any of the excos on duty for each day.

with regards to the packing list, the 'pillow' is only meant for sleeping (since i recieved several smses regarding the same item). Therefore, if you think you will be able to sleep without a pillow and just make do with towels or whatever, then yep, the pillow is optional. Hehs.. OH! but i guess sleeping bag or blanket or old bedsheets are compulsory. Don't want anybody catching some scary flu virus in times like these eh??

I hope you guys are all excited about it and are looking forward to the camp. We will be meeting up in SIM first before going over to the Ulu Pandan Campus.

so since its like going to be really exams soon, and no one update this place.

Open house was in March 13 & 14, and the members from Esprimere of course did put up performance on this two days! :)

KL trip 08! :)

Esprimere KL trip 08!

on the 28th of December 2008 we set off from Singapore to KL in the morning at Golden Mile Complex. the journey to KL was approximately about 6 hours or so ( i counted the time after we cleared the custom). we check into Holiday Inn and rested for awhile before we went to shop at TIMES SQUARE as well as for a late lunch and early dinner there. Upon arriving at times square, most of the guys went along with Jeffrey to find for the vegetarian food(which i heard is really nice and cheap), while the rest of us went to Marybrown and Kenny Roger for dinner! after dinner, we shop all around, trying to find tops, bottoms, shoes, accessories and all. midway through when we gather for the first time at about 8pm, one group went to the 民歌餐厅 and watch for the performance or so, while another group decide to comb the remaining level that they have not shopped. after shopping at about 10pm, we met up and we went back to hotel by taxi. Dinner was not done rather, because we had a too early dinner, hence, a group of people actually went out to da bao something back, while some people like me, bao & cy decided to call for room services. hahaha. :)

on the second day, we had breakfast(provided by the hotel),we had a little bit of time before setting off to Sunway lagoon(one group of us went to sunway, while the other group set off for shopping). we 3 exco girls had a PILLOW FIGHT with the other 3 exco guys!

we set off to Sunway lagoon after at about 11.30pm or so(one group of us went to sunway, while the other group set off for shopping).Upon reaching the pyramid shopping centre, we set off for a lil shopping before waiting for the other groups to reach (and i was separate from bao & cy), and the other 2 or 3 groups of people were actually at the other entrance while we were at the other one. so we bought the tickets and we went in for rides and all. of all the things we went in, i suppose the one that makes me scream was of course the SCREAM PARK, i scream from the start to the end. some of them played with the water rides and all. we had A&W for dinner at Pyramid shopping mall, shopping at pyramid, and after shopping, Darryl, Yongfa, Jeffrey they all decide to went to Chinatown and shop, while me,bao,cy,brian & ben decides to cab back to the hotel and just sleep because we were really so tired towards the end of the day! hahaha. :)

on the last day itself, we went for breakfast, to Sugnei Wang and then to Mid Valley Mega Mall for some last minute shopping and dinner at the Kim Gary Cafe(which is cheaper than Singapore i suppose). Home sweet home(reaching Singapore) on 31st December 2008 at about 2am! :)

Happy Chinese new year in advance! and best of luck to all the UOL students for their prelims and main exams!and RMIT students too! Study Hard, study hard. everyone!haha :)

it's been sometime since the six of us went out together! for juniors who are unsure bout the two additional girls, they are lishi and peiyin! :D yupyup, they are your seniors from our batch! (:

neoprints frenzy!! haha neoprints are so passe.. but it's still fun screaming and freaking out, thinking of poses, while the camera timer counts down.. which prolly explains our very limited poses! =p actually, we like things natural.. HAHA.

dress day, pasta mania, neoprints, freaking blossomz salesgirl (totally spoilt our wonderful day!), shopping, stoning, subway, more photo-taking... ... these are very usual activities that can be done with any other girlfriends..

it's the companionship that matters.. the fact that we havent gone out as a group for a long time, made the time spent during the meet-up even more precious..

Esprimere Notice Board Revamp

Yesterday (2/12/08 Tue) was a major revamp for the club's notice board!! A few of us had finally given the board a new lease of life again! And we are super proud of the end product. Millions of applause for liane, clemen, deduan, chinyee, and me pls!!=) hahah okae la not forgetting yf, darryl, jeffrey and the juniors for helping out in the beginning making the background, contributing ideas, buying the materials etc... and everyone who have helped out even a tiny weeny bit in the process... Most imptly this is a BIG THANK YOU to all!

Hahaha now we all dont have to feel paiseh or guilty when we walk past it the half completed old board. From today onwards we will all proud be of it. This board belongs to all of us!! =D

Hmm arghhh the pic uploaded is not very clear. The board is 100 times prettier in real life. So yup haha anw the mike on top is really damn cute!! haha innovative! It is liane's darling! Hope it'll be safe there in place and nobody will kappo it away!

Things to look out for : try to exhale the air downwards; if your nose itches after it, you are doing the wrong way.
Humming

Introduction of more exercises

Cartoon Voice
Sliding "Ng" Sound (imitating the sound of a car engine)
Doing the "Eee" Sound (sounds like a siren)

Please follow this : 1 --- i --- 1
Things to look out for: check your voice box(close to yr neck area); when doing this exercise try not to tense your voice box, it should be done in a relaxed manner.

General Comments for the 1st group

Most of the people are too anxious; so there wasn't a good control of using other areas or techniques in singing.
Diction was a problem for some.
Try not to close eyes too often; Foremost is to maintain eye contact with the crowd, but u can try to that when there is a specific part that require more feeling towards it. (Bottomline : just don't do it too often)
Voice Expression needs improvement.
Some of you guys had delibrately sang certain parts of their songs at a lower key. (This maybe due to the fact that you guys are afraid of hitting the high notes.)

So sorry for the delay on the update on the lesson... Was very busy with the student week ar... Anyway thats all!!! And remember the warm ups ar.. try to do them when u are free ar.... ^^

LoL.. We really must thanks Adeline and Michelle for planning our sentosa outing (they planned for the whole thing and also prepared some of the forfeits for the day...i was damn 感动 lahz when i saw the spicy noodle..haha.. mish actually took the liberty to wake up and cook it..)

Anyway i think we had fun on that not so sunny day ritez.. playing volleyball, frisbee and the indian poker game.

Esprimere Freshman Chalet 2008

Early in the morning 10am...

Darry, Jeff and me went over to Pasir Ris MRT control to wait on our freshies to arrive.

There was only like 8 of them (Zhen Cong, Shina, Kelly, Michelle, Huiqi, Ben, Marcus, Weishan ); the rest promised to come at a later time due to some other things and lesson at school...(Dont wry we understand! Haha)

Anyway we headed back to chalet...

We had a round of a quick self introduction of our Excos and our Freshies and a brief speech from our President.
Then we kicked off with our 1st ice-breaking game: THE NAME GAME

Our 2nd game : Pass the Balloon

This was quite an exciting game since we have to keep passing a small balloon till it burst, there were many times where ppl trying to sabo each other..(etc YongFa, HongXin, ZhenCong..Haha)
Around 130pm, we break off for lunch at Down Town East.

And after lunch, We awaited more of our freshies to arrive. (YAY!!! more ppl for our group games le..)

We began our 2nd part of the games....
But firstly let me introduce our Team and their members.

Our 3rd Game : Name the Song

Some popular songs was distorted, and freshies are required to guess the name of those songs.

Scribblers was vry gd in this section im guessing they likes to listen to musics all the time. So in the end Singaholics and PowerPuffGirls lost and have to abide to our forfeit..Haha

Our 4th Game : Reaction Game

A game where we showed our freshies a pic of a hand drawn of hands depicting some actions using both hands. Freshies are then required to do the action and if can not, they are required to cross their arms or raise their hands.

Our 5th game: The Balloon Game

This game objective was to attack the other groups base while defending our own base.

So sad.. so sad..Scribblers was outright attacked by both Singaholics and PowerPuffsGirls(No way to retaliate ar)....HAHAHA But anyway the winner goes to SINGAHOLICS lahz.(The best group for the day....Im so bias.. HAHAH!!!)

And Lastly was our very old school relay kind of telematch : Sour Dash

Team members was required to race down to 3 checkpoints in the game, 1st check point was to bite a slice of lemon from a basin filled with ice water then they race down to the 2nd checkpoint to find and get a sour zour sweet from a basin filled with flour.. then they have to go in circles using a stick for ten times and afterward carry a cap filled with water to fill their respective yakult bottles.

After the end of the games, points were tabulated and the Winner turns out to be Singaholics, followed by PowerPuffGirls, and lastly Scribblers.

Aiya.. no worries, everyone was a winner till the end as we had made new friends and enjoyed ourselves that very day. CHEERS!!!

Scribblers was treated to a Sour Juice which consists of Fresh Lemons, Lime, Sour Prunes, Vinegar, Sprite with an ending topping of whipped cream. YUMMY!!!

Then we headed back to chalet for wash-up...(no one wash up in the end) and we awaited the start of our BBQ ...

Around 930pm, the whole club headed over to Pasir Ris Park to our very own BBQ-Campfire to perform a group singing. And we had a special PK singing section by Wei Liang, Peiwen, Trevor, Yong Fa (trying to be 蕭敬騰) and lastly Darryl.

After the campfire, we headed back to chalet to wash up, Fishball and Michelle wanted to bbq again, and so we had our 2nd bbq again on that very day. (Many Claps and Thanks to Miss Michelle, she really can cook i think, she got likes ton of things to say abt cooking.. and plus she really enjoys BBQ. So TO ALL FRESHIES, remember to say thank you to her the next time u see her. She bbqed most of the stuffs u ate...)

And i heard from some of our freshies that some of our male freshies took the liberty to play some ice-breaking games with the rest of the freshies..while we were bbqing.(So cheers to them too!!!)

Yesterday was the start of the beginner lessons conducted by us(excos). I was completely shocked by the numbers of our freshies yesterday, did not expected such a large group...28 Freshies lehz...

Okie a quick recap on yesterday stuffs, a brief introduction on our club, us and also on our FRESHIES..

Next Jeff and Yongfa took the lead on explaining "What constitute to good singing"; using of airflow, diaphragm and mouth.

After that, Darryl explains some of the genre of music that we had learnt previously last year, which includes Acapella, Ballads, Blues, Disco, Hip-Hop, Jazz, Pop, R&B and Rock.

And lastly was the 1min singing by our freshies. Well anyway, im glad with our freshies, most of them had the confidence of coming up to sing infront all of us.
So remember this, one small step in confidence; one giant leap for singing!!!

HOLA EVERYONE...
Oh man.. July is coming to an end...and Yes! my temp job is coming to an end too... LoL
Guess the year 1 freshies are gonna start school soon...
But don't despair! Cause our chalet is only round the corner (Aug 16th - 17th) HAHA...
We will definitely have fun and make new friends during that period. So dont miss out!!!

My Esprimere Experience...

Since joining Esprimere : Singing club...
people will often ask u..
why did you join this club?

is it because u love singing???

and Yes.. often the most anticipated answer will be "I LOVE SINGING"

In the beginning... i find that to be quite amusing... but after spending a period of time in singing club i found out that there is actually quite some truth in it..

People really do loves singing..and it's just a matter of whether u dare to outright show your love for it openly or otherwise. And thus you can find people singing in very unusual places
Well the most popular place i deem will be the bathroom or the toilet (don't you know that people can hear you when you sing in yr bathroom LOL but who cares) and if you see people like darryl, jeff and yongfa.. who are unafraid to sing anywhere.. you can hear them singing in the MRT cabins to the hilltop of Jurong hill..HAHAHA

But all in all Singing is a great way to boost one's confidence.. so JOIN us at Esprimere if you dare....

And yes.. i had made a bunch of goody friends and buddies in Esprimere and they had made my life in the uni so much more eventful..

So to all freshies...

I hope you guys will have the same great and nice experience that i had... CIAOs !!!!

From the very first post which was posted on 15 of June. it's almost one month since anyone of us have touch blogger to UPDATE anything. so here's an update! :)

so let me see what i can dig out from my memory.

there was once, when we went back to school to do up the notice board which is like somewhere last month, but let's just don't talk about that anymore. we shall revamp everything again! okay, EXCO, let's just dig out every bits of our creativity to make the noticeboard the most super duper attractive than other clubs ok?

Freshman orientation day was last week on the 1st and 2nd of July (which is last Tuesday & Wednesday) .
so setting up a booth is necessary to attract students to join!

Therefore on 29th of June which is a Sunday, the EXCO met up at Orchard and went to purchase materials needed. So off we went to Takashimaya, bought the materials and we were inside the shop cutting all the alphabets we needed, but actually that was not allowed.But i suppose the whole lot of us the skin too thick (am i right?) already, we continue to use their pen knife and all until we gotten stares from the staff there then off we go. :p

and off we went to Wheelock, and went to an ulu corner and sat there, and do all the necessary stuff. OH YAH, we bought food along too because everyone were just super hungry.
and actually at Wheelock, we were not suppose to be sitting there either but too bad, it's only when we were about to pack up and went back home, the security guard came and told us that. haha.

So 30th of June, one day before the orientation,we went back to school to finish up the booth. Though we were tired (even though i went only at night, but the other 3 (Chinyee, YongFa & Jeffrey) were there since the afternoon, so they were suppose to be more tired than me!
but anyway, we were proud of the final result that everyone have put in since the Sunday!

our final masterpiece on Monday night! :)

So orientation on the 1st & 2nd of July. it was quite a sight because suddenly, the atrium was filled with people in different colour tee (for those OGL, freshman and all). people came to our booth and enquire, and though i didn't talk much that day in order to pull people in, because i am SHY, but we were glad that people do join singing club! :) and hope more people will join soon!

we should be proud of ourselves :)

Lesson with Estella have begun on Wednesday. actually to me, it's quite scary at first, because everyone were like so good, except like for me only. bahhhh. :( but i suppose i will get better each time. and i pray for that to happen too! so i look up to all of you all okay?! hahas

and today we went back to school for self-practice. and i was amazed at myself for being punctual for once. and maybe it was our very first self-practice, we do not know what was being expected from all of us or rather i do not know so in the end, we got a little talk from the president himself. but i suppose things will still go well if we work very hard and be very ENTHUSIASTIC in everything we do!

so let's jiayou exco!

we shall bring the club to a new greater heights okay?

a new beginning..

Our first entry here.. so let's just talk bout what we did today.. Basically, we met up in school to do up this blog, our forum and flyers needed for the open house that's coming up soon. The time we were supposed to meet shall not be revealed since i was one of the latecomers. haha. We tried means and ways to get into the school which was locked, simply because IT'S A SUNDAY! In the end, we had to make do with doing our stuffs at this raised area at NP, which was really stuffy! There were no fans and the weather today was very bad, seriously. i think all of us were tired cos of the heat and not cos we spent alot of energy on doing up the tasks. Anyway, we managed to finish up the blog, the forum and also the design for the flyers at the end of it all! So, mission accomplished! :D Okay, and credits to our President who bought us Macs from KAP for lunch! (:

We also went thru the agenda which Yf and Jeff came up with after meeting up with our singing instructor - Estella. Future plans, new structure of the club, new ideas, new activities.. Even though we all looked half-dead, we were (and are) actually VERY EXCITED bout our future plans RIGHT, EXCO? hahaha. We were probably just tired from the heat, that's all.. haha on a personal note, i guess im the sort who will only start being excited and all when reality hits home. Cos im kinda too used to not having singing lessons and activities already. Yup, so when Open House, Orientation and performances start coming in, we will all be VERY ENTHUSIASTIC!! (:

Just to end off this post, im still pretty confident that we, the new batch of excos, will be able to do a good job and bring the club to greater heights! Let's learn from past mistakes and remain united throughout okay guys? Let the cooperation among us and the time spent together be an experience which we'll never forget! (:
